By running it in do you mean breaking it in? In that case yes, absolutely! It is very important if you want the full potential of the car to be brought about.

It's painfull very painful! I'm on 450 miles now and it's starting to feel like it's not all that quick because I've not let it unleash yet! I did let it zip up to around 5k in 3rd this evening when a guy next to me encouraged me to show him what it could do but it was only a second or 2 and I've not used manual or a Sport + yet. As I say it's hard....
It's my first new car, my first AMG and I want to look after it. I'm not sure what harm it would do to drive it hard a little earlier than advised but it's not worth any risk in my mind. Guidelines are there for a reason. 2 weeks and I'll be over the marker ready for action....

It is not so much the long journey, but the constant speed that is to be avoided. Taking a long drive does satisfy getting the break in miles done. Don't just set the Distronic and cruise at the speed limit. Use the gas pedal and vary your speeds.

Constant speed is fine too, just make sure you are using paddle shifters and alternate between the adequate gear and a gear lower (as many different gears you can utilize without hitting 4500 rpm). Take more frequent stops. This is all for long journey's btw. You will obviously be consuming more gas, but that's how I plan on going between cities because I have to and also doing the break in properly.

    I didn't break in my 2017 CLA45... and I did 4.0 0-60 and 4.1 0-60 consistently before 1000 miles and around 2500 miles
