i'm also scared to break any clip, and then the wing will not fit well or will rattle or look weird.
so i ended up plasti-dipping the grey part of the wing.

it's been holding on for like 5 months now with no problems.

Does anyone know if the oem illuminated star bought from the dealer pops out the same way?

I tried turning it counter clockwise today to see if it would come out and it seemed pretty sturdy...didn't want to break anything

    I've got the same problem.
I can't remove my start emblem. I turn it anti-clockwise and moves an inch. I've put in alot of force but scared to add more... Might break off.

    Any advice guys?

No advice, its hard to pull off and scared me too.
Its an anti-clockwise turn and use both hands
Just like other things in life, the first time will be the hardest ;P

Bump on the wings tab locations!

Did you experience the same issues?

Rather not potentially break clips. I'll prep the grill to the max and plastidip.

For the star do a snug twist counter clockwise with two hands and it'll move about 1-2" and will pull straight out.

The wing was very tough to get off but was more about force rather than the "clips". I could not budge the clips up or down so I started at the ends and took a very small flat head wrapped with a cloth and pried it out just enough to start wiggling it and working my way towards the center. It really does pop right off once you get it going.

I have an Edition 1 and wanted to match the front of mine to the interior stripes. I'm also going to do the "AMG Edition" stripe on the mirrors in the same color and the bottom lip black. (I previously had the bottom lip and whole wing and star black for about 14 months but wanted to switch it up.)

Guys.. I can't get my wing of, it's like moving a big rock! :-(

The star is easy but the wing won't move a millimeter..

Someone mentioned if you can blind feel for the clips on the back side then you can bend up/down and push it outward
Though apparently much easier to pull the grille assembly out and work from there (I know yikes right?!)

Were the clips for the wing to detach difficult to look for could the clips be easily felt? Do we have to reach in and unclip it from the inside of the grill, or is it done from the outside?
