Was it Gibret from New Image Wheels? He did an awesome job on my car's curb rash. http://newimagewheels.webs.com/

Yes, I believe that is the guy. Highly recommend him in the Austin area. He is mobile, and can come to you.

I've given up on fixing this issue. As soon as I get one rim repaired I tend to run into another curb! Yesterday one outside of Boston had to be 10 inches high. You hear that telltale grinding noise and know the worst has happened.

Looking at the tire, it looks like you would be better off for safety sake to replace it.

For the curbed rim, the gash looks pretty bad. But if you are only leasing the car, I would say, leave it.

But if you own the car, and depending on how anal you are, for me, I would fix it, given you have already spent a bunch on the car. I had a curbed wheel rim like yours , 3 days into the ownership of the car. I had the wheel fixed professionally for $130.00, like factory new. Now I am watching those curbs liek a hawk.

Are you referring to the tire/wheel pix from 2014 at the start of this thread? Or did I miss a more recent set? 😕

This side of the tire is the weakest point, in extreme conditions/ High speed and high temperature this damage could give problems, like blown tire. don't know how deep the cut is. Let it be checked in tire specialist shop.

I think the OPs pix showed pretty bad rubber separation

I also purchased 5-year wheel protection knowing my driving history. 3 years of ownership now and not a single curb rash on the OEM rims. But you know the day after my 5-year anniversary I'll scrape a curb.

I did that as well. Ruined a tire on the rain driving over a pothole. Scraped my rims twice. Fixed under insurance.
