Hi, I have had several cars that each have a "Passenger Airbag Light Deactivated " light on the center column. This light only ever activated when there was weight on the seat, but not enough weight to be a person. E.g. You have groceries on the seat and the car is letting you know the airbag is off. My question is, why is this light always on on my new CLA with nothing in the seat? Is this normal?
Yeah I hate it too...

I have the same thing wtf
Alex, are you saying this is not normal? You don't have this light always on on your car?
If no one of significant weight is in the seat, no need for the airbag to go off and cost even more in repairs in a front end collision. I have no problem with this. Part of MB's advanced tech.

Apologies Guys, but I've only recently got my CLA. I've noticed the 'passenger airbag off sign' come up for a second when I start the car. Are you saying, thats on because there's no weight on the passenger seat?
Yes the light stays on unless it feels a certain weight on the seat. The front pass and the side airbag are off.
One guy said it should be off and if it detects the weight of a child then it illuminates to warn you not to seat your child there....really. You need a light to tell you that?
