Car looses power upon mid range throttle

I have a problem when I accelerate to midrange quickly. The motor seems to stall just briefly and the car jolts because of this. If I continue to keep the throttle on, it continues to do it every second or so. Then when I let off the gas, it won’t let me quickly accelerate again. It seems to go into an engine safety mode in which it won’t let me accelerate quickly and slowly increases speed from about 40mph on with very slow gradual increase in speed ( seems like a safety mechanism to avoid engine damage) This however all resets to normal once I stop the car, turn ignition off, then restart engine.

This just started last week out of nowhere with no additional mods on car.

Anyone know what the problem is?

I get no error codes when I plug in my reader.
Thanks for all your help with this!

    John

I would guess it is either the pedal commander or the tune. I would try unhooking the pedal commander and see if that stops the problem. At least you could remove one variable.

when I had my tune in randomly the car would go into limp mode with no code. I would cycle the engine and the problem would be gone. Never found the culprit either.

That’s the first thing I did yesterday and still does it.

I just removed the positive battery terminal. Will leave it off for an hour. Then try again and see it that does it. Another post says to “cycle the engine”. Not sure what that means. Thanks for the help

Yes, Starting car again, allows for the throttle response to become normal again but it still goes into limp mode as soon as you give it mid
    throttle gas.
    Help!

    I found possible reasons:

    1 bad mass air sensor
    2 bad spark plugs
    3 loose hose
    4 bad thermostat

Hoses look good, the rest I don’t know. Anyone have any help on this? Thanks to all. John

you might inspect the harness for the tune and make sure each plug is connected properly. I was once told that if the sensor isn't fully seated it will throw the car into limp mode.
