model year 14 maintenance booklet I downloaded from the MB website (https://www.mbusa.com/en/owners/manuals) says transmission oil and filter is at 90,000 miles. But it obviously doesn't hurt to do it sooner if you're feeling like your transmission isn't operating the way it used to. Definitely depends on the way you drive.

So my CLA will be 5 years in January but I will only have around 21,000. So do I still need to have it changed then?

    yes
it's not just mileage but age of the fluids
drive train and braking system longevity is extended with mileage OR age maintenance schedules
i am also about to change the dct fluid but having a tough time finding "new" batch of fluid ... most are >2yr on the shelf so stupid

I would not do it! Years ago I had transmission fluid changed on a Caddy at 30000 , it was a horror story! The repair shop must have gotten some debris into the tranny during the flush, had to bring it into the dealership to REBUILD the tranny, good thing it was still under warranty, it was over 3 grand. Could not prove it was the repair shop, but the problem stated 2 weeks after the flush!

I suggest you wait, no dirt will get into the tranny until they change fluid. Some mechanics will suggest you NEVER change fluid, The old adage......"if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

I have a 2014 with 32000, I plan on waiting a very long time, I've learned my lesson.

Well ... absolute cleanliness is part of the factory documented process, lint free cloths, shed free funnel filters, etc etc
Past 60 months (or 60k mi) the fluid status degrades and dct mechanics will suffer which will have some high associated costs
No dirt yes but fluid change yes too
There are 2 separate filters in the dct system as well to trap any funny business
