The main focus of Mercedes-Benz's presence here at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show will be the fully redesigned 2014 E-Class (and its too-hot AMG counterpart), but the German automaker did bring along another tasty little morsel for a sneak preview. Meet the new 2014 CLA-Class – a swoopy compact sedan based on the already successful new A-Class hatchback that'll be arriving Stateside in September of this year. Mercedes-Benz introduced its new entry-level car to the world at Detroit's Westin Book Cadillac hotel, but the CLA won't be making an appearance under the lights of Cobo Hall. Instead, the company will be shipping its new four-door off to be officially debuted to the public at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin later this week, and its first official viewing at an auto show will be at the Geneva Motor Show.

I'm really happy to hear that they are also projecting a $30k to $35k base price range. That's right in line with where it needs to be to get good market penetration.

. Although true, I think it's 28k Euros and some change, you are looking at something along the lines of 34-35k. Albeit that is my CDN estimate. What I look at is where it slots in compared to B and C class. The cla is still 5k euros cheaper starting price than the c class and about 3k more than B. In Canada my dealer told me expect about 40k for a Cla with Sport pack. Mbrace nav and executive or premium pack. 40k for all that is a Killer price...basement A4 and bare bones 320i

I think your price guesstimates are right on Stig.
How come some photos of the CLA have the front emblem with paint on it? For instance, up above in the original photo, it shows red paint on the three star emblem on the front grill. Not all the other photos have that.
