Welcome t the CLA Forum Andrew Daniels:)
Worry? No
Just immediately book it for service with your friendly MB stealership and get a loaner so you are not inconvenienced.

Hi all, I picked up by brand new 23 cla45s on the weekend and after about 20km's of driving the check engine light came on.

Is this something to worry about?

You are well within the warranty period, just get the mercedes dealership to sort it out. Even if it may cost thousands to fix (replacing some emission part or something), it is not on your dime. So don't sweat it.

Hi @Andrew Daniels welcome to the forum mate. I had exactly the same issue with my new 45 S when it arrived here in Oz. Check engine light came on (and off) regularly, turned out to be a simple seset of the codes as there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. Stealership told me that it happens sometimes that the long journey out here on the boat can play havoc with the electrics/battery/systems. I had a 'pandemic built' car, so it spent a long time waiting for various parts in the factory lot before it even made its way onto the boat, so not surprising. But definitely take it straight back into the dealer and get them to check and clear if thats what it is.

Thanks mate, appreciate your help. It ended up being a loose oxygen sensor.

I hope you are enjoying your 45s as much as we are!

I had the same problem a few months ago with my 22. The code that kept coming up was about the fuel rail. After speaking with the a smarter person at the dealership, he suspected bad fuel. I filled my tank up with Shell 91 in the US and the problem went away. Just try a different Top Tier Detergent fuel and see if it clears, especially if the dealer cannot figure it out…
