I've never owned any of the higher-end Mercedes so I don't know if it's offered in them. I had a feature in my 2000 Lincoln LS that I really miss.

The preset seat, steering wheel & mirror positions were activated by the key fob before getting into the car. My wife's key fob was recognized differently than mine as whenever we used it to open the door it would automatically go to our own individual settings. Also a single push or the seat preference button would automatically go to the related setting without standing in the rain with one's finger on the button waiting for it to move back so you could climb in.

It does appear that since my 2014 and my wife's 2018 GLC300, they have added an easy entry feature where the seats retract for easier entering and exiting. I currently use my 3rd. preset button to do it, but again I have to wait with my finger on the button to achieve it

Why hasn't MB adopted this handy feature?

I don't know if it's a German or an MB thing. Grind for that luxury...

i return to 3 (ingress egress seat position) before i get out so the seat is always ready during exit and entry
the push and hold is a safety feature
imagine you going very quickly and either a glitch or the seat position button is pressed to wifey’s setting - you would be squished and may floor the gas pedal thru the intersection red light
this kinda of crap actually happens especially when a dog is sitting on the driver and hanging out the window - like duh

Personally, I think it's time to stop trying to make the world idiot proof. I've had customer's ask me if we can make a piece of equipment idiot-proof. My response is; "Yes we have made stuff idiot-proof in the past but, the problem is they just keep making bigger & better idiots."

It's time we let natural selection take it's course. In the olden days the idiots would be the first ones to be eaten by wild animals allowing only the brighter ones to reproduce - thereby improving society. Protecting the idiots is counter-productive. How do you think we got our present gang of politicians?

If you push the wrong button and your voice gets higher - push the other button. They can also defeat the auto-position while the car is in drive and the ancestors of people that let their dogs drive should have been eaten by wild animals. Simple solutions to simple problems.;)
