Accelerator Peddle Jerked and Red Warning Appeared?

I’ve tried looking this up but cannot find what I’m looking for. I drive a 2020 Mercedes CLA.

So I was just driving, accelerating down the road when suddenly the accelerator peddle kinda jerked and car was a bit unstable and on the screen, as far as I can remember, the image of the car appeared with a red light indicating to the entire driver side of the car. I pulled over straight away and took a look outside and there were no issues. There was no alarm sound also when this happened, the accelerator peddle simply jerked and the car was a little unstable and a red warning was indicated to the driver side only. It was something I’ve never seen before.

I continued to drive with no more issues or any types of warning appearing. What happened?? I was accelerating kind of harshly when this happened also if that explains anything, but I wasn’t going thaaat fast, my car isn’t even that fast. But did I just simply momentarily lose control of the car?

Sorry if this was a little hard to understand, I tried to describe it as well as I could remember it 😅 it all happened so fast

Sounds like your transmission downshifted to accommodate your acceleration. Do you remember also hitting a bump at the same time?
Was your previous car an automatic transmission?
How long have you owned your CLA?

It’s possible I hit something, the road was a flat road but there could’ve been a small object that blew onto the road that I didn’t see. This car is my first automatic and my previous car was manual. I’ve only had it for just over a month but covered about 1200 miles with no issues, the car has been driving beautifully since I got it. I don’t really accelerate quickly often, I’m usually quite a well behaved driver, this was a one off so not sure if something like this is a common experience to those who drive fast regularly

Yes, it is common for the transmission to downshift under certain conditions based on the load and speed you desire,
Most seen when going up hills.
I have a CLA45... and once I went to accelerate but did it awkwardly (hard to explain... it's like I didn't just floor it but kinda hestitated for a split second while pushing down) and the car bucked and threw up a transmission error on the screen saying it wasn't possible to shift. But I just continued driving and the car was fine and it never happened again.

Sometimes weird things just happen... the computers get a value for a parameter it wasn't expecting and gets "angry"... and then it never happens again. If it happens again... definitely take it to the dealer.

its your active brake assist, i had this a few times and the it packed up altogether, take it to dealer. it brakes thinking there is going to be an impact to the right or left hand side and lights the dash up with red car, quite scary when your doing 70mph

I think I figured out what the issue was. Coincedentally, today while I was parked and waiting for a friend, I pressed down on the accelerator pedal and noticed a click once the pedal was floored, sort of like a button was being pressed. I googled what this click was and apparently it is the kickdown switch which is related to the downshift which some of you mentioned previously in the replies and I was also going up a hill at the time. I must've triggered it while accelerating... so yeah, I guess its nothing to worry about. Thanks guys.
Well red car on your dash has nothing to do with your pedal so good luck
