Now that pricing is out, it is more or less in line with expectations. Perhaps a tad bit on the high side. Please take part in our poll and let us know how you feel about it.

Speaking of USDM offerings, should've made the CLA250 for $27.5k & the CLA45-AMG for $42.5k, allowing for a very well-equipped CLA250 for $35k (or less) & a loaded CLA45-AMG for $50k (or less). A parity of $15k would be enough to substantiate the exclusive AMG bits (trim/interior, suspension, brakes, engine/transmission, etc). And the dealer could pre-order the AMGs w/ lotsa kit (not have them spartan just to move them at that low price-point).

Having to pay $1,200 for leather-interior, $710 for metallic-paint, and $850 for Bi-Xenon headlamps w/ LED-DRLs is a buzz'kill for the CLA250, they should've been standard on the $29.9k offering. Grrr... :D

Honestly.. For that price why not go with the E350 Coupe.. 4k more.. Seems like more car for your buck.
CLA45 AMG is a great bang for your buck. It's priced right and it offers a great balance of luxury and sport. It's such a great time for performance sedans. Where can you find a sporty luxury car that can go 0-60 in mid 4's for 50k? S3's nice, but the styling is quite tame.

The only thing terrible about the CLA is the ugly navigation screen sticking out there like a sore thumb.

I expect that they will feel very different. I was looking to upgrade from my C350 and drove a couple of different E's a few months ago. They are nice but don't feel anywhere near as sporty.
I think it all depends on what comes out in the ordering guide. If they price it a la cart like a 911 then it's going to be expensive. If the standard car comes well equipped and the option packages on the AMG version are reasonable then it's expensive but reasonable at the same time. I'm guessing that a nicely equipped model should price out in the mid-high $50K range which is fine. If it dips into the 60Ks just to get a decent set of rims then it's silly pricing. So far, everything I'm seeing has me ready to place an order. The only reason I haven't done so is that I have no clue what's included in the base package. It's not even clear what the standard rims will be or what the option 19s will run. The cost of rims isn't going to be the decision maker for me but the the final list of options will certainly determine what I want...and I'm just not ready to place the order without knowing at least that much. :)

Just my $.02,
-Eric

I love this car. It is perfect for me. Understated, but still unique. While the standard CLA 45 that we will get here in the states is just fine, I decided not to settle this time around.
Would prefer the option of a 6 speed- but only if came at a lower price point. Overall, the car seems like a value.

Fourteen years ago my younger brother bought a CLK and paid more for it than this car will cost. The CLA 45 AMG will also be quicker, get better mpg, have AWD for handling winter (along with some 18" Wintersports) and is more practical as it is a four door. Factor in inflation over fourteen years and this car is a steal,IMO.
I believe the CLA 45 AMG is over rated. They should have debuted the CLA 250 first and determined how the sales went before even mentioning anything about the CLA 45 AMG. I'm still sold on the CLA 250 I guess because I was already stuck on the notion that the CLA 45 AMG would be pricy!
What did you guys expect the pricing to be for a car bigger than the current C class and an amg badge?

seems like a decent amount of car for the money . . s4 and 335xi are same exact price

the c63 amg was what . . 55-56 when it first came out in 08-09, now its 59k ?
why dont some of you guys come to australia?

We are all going to be excited if the car is under $100,000. A lot better than a C63 for $180,000 or a CLS63 for $280,000

Australian car pricing makes no sense. No offense. It doesn't seem like you can even blame it all on exchange rates or even your tax regime, which itself is pretty burdensome, at least by comparison to the US. Its like the gov't and manufacturers conspired to screw the people. I have no idea how manufacturers sell any "luxury" cars over there. I feel for you.

Yep, perfectly summarized.
I am looking at them since Super Bowl..

I did see the price drop of over $2500 and almost half on upgrades with USAA Car Buyer?

I am waiting for pricing for the Edition 1?

Anyone know the oil filter for the engine yet? Manf.-Style.-Model #
Price for CLA45 in Hong Kong is USD100k...

I would gladly trade that for your 15% flat tax. And no sales tax or VAT on most things !
My mom got sick visiting and had great care at a government hospital for next to nothing even though she had to share a room with seven people.
And follow up doctor visit co-pay was only $10 HKD. That's $1.25 ! My local hospital here charges that much per hour parking...
I do have a question. Where exactly do you air out a car like that when average road speed is 10-20 mph ? Next to Bangkok, Hong Kong probably has more car per mile of road than anyone else in the world...

Haha well health care support from the government is not bad here, just you need a long queue if any surgeries.

Yea $10HKD is just 1/4 parking in HK too :D

Traffic in cities in China is much more horrbile... And the driving is...
Paying already 40k in euros for a CLA180, the 85k for a 45AMG is out of reach for me.
If I would have lived in the USA, I would have bin able to buy a 45AMG for that money :crying:
