BG 44K - fuel system cleaner

I just ordered some BG 44K fuel system cleaner , which should arrive tomorrow. I used it before on my old 2005 BMW 525i, and it certainly cleaned up that old engine , it ran like a smooth operator after that.

I will try it on the CLA and see how it goes.

waiting to see results!

My CLA is running rather smooth currently, idling relatively smoothly @ 750rpm; however, gas consumption ever since I resorted to driving short supermarket type trips , now working from home, has not been great. Will see if a proper clean up will help with this GDI engine get back better fuel consumption.
do let us know ...
Well, ordered it from Amazon, still waiting for it to arrive. Apparently it is coming from outside of north america.
The product apparently was sold by some dubious middle eastern company , it never arrived , hence I had Amazon refund me my money which was the best part of it.
what? no local supplier?
our yankee amazon uses this vegas outfit for bg44 …

Not here in Canada.

BG products sold officially here can only be purchased at the auto dealership, and must be purchased as part of a complete fuel system service.

If I buy it off ebay, it is really pricey , with the international shipping included.

Amazon.ca sells it , apparently, but the 3rd party sellers are scammer companies.

Well, I will just have to stick to the trusty Redline S1-L fuel system cleaner, which does work anyway. Just curious about how good BG-44K really is with my CLA.
theres this international portal … and just setup an alternate account (kid wife mistress 😛)
might work??

Interesting, I checked amazon.com website and there does not seem to be available BG 44K being sold there.
thats odd … shows up on standard and international portals over here
it would be interesting if they are parsing eligibility based on source ip

I just ordered 5 bottles of the Royal purple MAX-CLEAN Fuel system cleaner and stabiliser from a Canadian autoparts website, selling for CAD20 a bottle. Regular price is CAD27.00 from the national autoparts store , Canadiantire. Why 5 bottles? Because I got free shipping with a minimum purchase of CAD100.00.

Heard some good things about this stuff. Not so pricey with this special discounted price. Apparently it has loads of PEA detergent in it for good cleaning of the fuel system.

Royal Purple MAX-CLEAN
we should consider a fiber cam before and after … to verify how much “cleaning” gets done
wonder what the compound is for the stabilizer?
Ran two consecutive bottles of Royal Purple MaxClean fuel system cleaner through my CLA over the past 2 weeks, I think it really does help with cleaning up my 8 year old CLA. After the battery replacement, fuel economy was pretty good, now after 2 bottles of the fuel system cleaner, I was checking the fuel consumption, instantaneous data from the car while on the freeway, and it was running at around 4.5L/100km or 52mpg (US) or 63mpg (UK). This was while cruising at 90km/h on the freeway. On average , 50% freeway and 50% city, ~ 7L/100km or 33mpg (US) or 40 mpg (UK).

The car also respond much quicker, less hesitation on acceleration, more happy to hit the higher revs as well.
Wait
So you have now tried royal and red and a couple others right?
Presume they are similar is results tho each was applied at different age points

the liqui jectron per tank seems to keep my mpg steady or slight improvement
Yes, I have tried the following fuel system cleaners on my CLA:

1. Redline S1-L
2. Liqui Moly Jectron fuel injection cleaner
3. Royal Purple MaxClean
4. Rislone all-in-one fuel system cleaner
5. Generic fuel system cleaner (Canadian tire brand)

Of these , I find that Redline and Royal purple cleaners do the best. Jectron FI cleaner is good, but not sure how good it is with keeping the combustion chamber clean. It works really great with the injectors.
I never did try the BG 44K in the CLA, as you recall, the order coming through amazon was by a dubious third party seller, that the product never arrived. The price of the BG44K via authorized retailer is really expensive. Hence at this point in time, still holding off trying it.
appreciate the reference list
presume it will be “ymmv”
gotta see which ones have pea since our motors are not port injects

though i hear the new m139 has di and port which is pretty neat 🙂

What's ymmv ???

The ones that I know , from available datasheets, that has PEA in them , are:
Redline S1-L
Chevron techron
Rislone All-in-one
Royal Purple MaxClean
Lubri Moly Pro-line Direct injection cleaner (never tried this, can't get it here in Canada)

I do not believe Lubri Moly Jectron contains PEA, mainly solvents , both polar and non-polar.

From my experience, All the above cleaners , with the exception of Rislone , does a pretty good job, with Redline and Royal Purple showing the best performance.
