Hi everybody. I'm looking to buy a CLA45 AMG. I'm already in touch with a salesperson, no solid commitment yet. I'm waiting for MSRP to be announced (hopefully Wednesday at the NY auto show). I'm currently driving a 2013 Scion FR-S, but as soon as I saw and heard the performance figures for the CLA45, I was ready to commit automotive adultery. I'm worried that dealers might be selling for over MSRP because of availability (like with the BMW 1M). Anybody have experience with other AMG models?

Look at the official Mercedes Benz site it will give you msrp when it comes out. Then individual car dealers will hand their prices or look up edmunds.
Hey Chris.
I'm from Canada as well. I also would like to see what the MSRP for the CLA45 AMG is like.
Someone from my city already dropped a $1000 deposit on one, and the salesperson told them worst case it would be $51k with some options. I personally don't buy that, as I don't think dealers know the prices of them yet, just an estimate. I heard that a good estimate is to look at the base C350 sedan. Prices should be close to that.

A good thing though is unlike the FR-S and BRZ, Mercedes-Benz (Canada and US) doesn't allow selling over MSRP. If the dealer does, they lose out on future allocations and they get fined too.

First post here by the way :)
Disoblige, I'm glad to hear that the dealers aren't allowed to sell over MSRP. That means that I will definitely be getting this car as I'm comfortable paying as much as $55000 before taxes which is what I'm assuming it will be. I'll probably be leasing to keep the payments low. As soon as Wednesday comes and the car is announced I'll be visiting the dealership.
Welcome aboard!!

You can visit the dealership all you want, but they won't have any information on the price/release date/specs etc for the AMG. Mercedes here in Canada is behind the US in most things with the CLA. All of the early information and any updates have come from the US first, then reluctantly from Canada. If your waiting for AMG information, you'll have to wait for "official" word from Canada for a while. You can, however, make an educated guess as to the Canadian cost based on the US cost.

Chris,

First of all welcome to the site. Toronto is a wonderful city. I lived there for a year.

As far as worrying about dealers marking up MSRP -- I can see a handful of dealers doing that when the AMG first hits (first couple of months) but once the initial excitement calms down it shouldn't be a problem. Also, usually Internet dealers don't bother doing that since they would rather sell out of area cheaper (and perhaps more expensive locally).

I've seen so many cars that have MSRP mark ups for the first couple of weeks then dealers realize the cars are easier to get and the price comes way down. Don't ever pay over MSRP :)
There is no worry for Mercedes charging over MSRP. They'll be fined and lose out on future allocations.

There was a dealer in the states who posted a C63 Black Series on eBay, was fined 75k and lost out on all Black Series allocations.

I'm glad to see Mercedes doing this.
