Found a nice article at autozeitung.de that talks about the CLA 45 AMG horsepower. They are claiming that AMG will get 330hp out of the 2.0 liter turbo. If they do, that will be awesome. Thats much higher then I expected. You can read the full article here: Erlkönig: Mercedes CLA 45 AMG 2013 (C117) | Erlkönige | Auto Aktuell | autozeitung.de

It is in German, but here's what Google Translate says:

Autozeitung.de said:
Mercedes is expanding its model range and will continue to achieve increasingly younger customers. But that is no reason to issue new cars no longer under the care of house tuner AMG.

Latest evidence: From the middle class coupe CLA , which will still roll in 2013 to the dealers are already tested AMG prototypes through their paces.

Happened recently, as a test pilot with a high-performance version of the four-door sent on trips. The hybrid, which is based on the successful Mercedes CLS, but the technology platform of the A-Class features (leading to the name CLA), is expected to powered by a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine that will generate more than 330 hp.

As with the AMG version of the new A-Class, the force is distributed by means of a variable all-wheel drive to all four wheels. In terms of driving dynamics expected of was still in its infancy CLA 45 AMG inferior to his fellows in nothing.

Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h electronically and to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h is expected to be at 5.0 seconds - at most!

I would've thought a supercharged V6 would've been MB's plan for the CLA-AMG, hmmm...

Hopefully some sort of LSD / power-vectoring type of setup upfront will be included to counter the FWD torque-steer w/ all that power!

It will be AWD on the AMG version :)
Well, there you go, we got a pocket-rocket right there likely w/ stellar performance #'s to boot!

So, that's interesting- a nearly ~$40k CLA250 (when spec'd) or a low ~$40k's loaded CLA45-AMG. Gosh, just when I think I know what I want- I gotta go & re-think... :D

I just don't think they'll be able to get the CLA45 AMG in the low 40's... I'm thinking $49k range.

Curious if the "electronic" speed limiting can or could be re-programmed by an expert in the after market? Know any specialists that do this type of work?

Any word on when the AMG version will be available in the USA?

Much thanks for all the postings!

No word yet on the AMG version.

There are quite a few tuners who do MB work and I'm sure they can remove the electronic limiter, I wouldn't worry about that.

I'm sure all types of tuners will show up for a 2l turbo charged car. I'm betting there will be all types of transmission maps, top speed, increased boost, and leaned out A/F mixtures. If initial numbers are in fact 330-350 I can see this car easily getting up to the 375-400 mark with some good aftermarket bits and a competent tuner. Hopefully they will offer a beefed up package with these numbers already like the C63.

The CLA-45AMG will be AWD/4Matic? The purported ~330hp (or more) is a lot for a FWD platform.

I agree, if its 330 stock, I can see it getting up to 400 easily. Think high flow cats, aftermarket exhaust/downpipes, cold air intake and increased boost/timing via ECU Tune. Very easily done.

Thats just the start too... bigger FMIC, turbos, injectors, etc... could be up to 500 hp assuming the engine can handle it.

Yes, it is going to be 4Matic.

Take a look at the A45 (Europe only). New pics and performance figures are posted. We're talking 360hp/332tq. 0-62 in 4.6 seconds with twin scroll turbo pushing 26psi! The interior looks absolutely sick with beautiful performance seats, carbon fiber everywhere and flat top/bottom steering wheel. I have a feeling this CLA45 will be pushing $55K.
