Currently driving a 2013 C300, which might be representative.

1. Neither COMAND Online nor the Drive Kit Plus work with the iPhone 5 yet, in any MB model. MB needs to update their software, they're late.
2. Bluetooth music / phone / contacts / text messages works fine with the iPhone 5 (non COMAND), in my experience.
3. Mercedes COMAND + iPhone 4/4S Media Interface cable reportedly works fine for music/phone/contacts with an iPhone 5 if you have an Apple 30-pin to Lightning connector. I have not personally tested this.
4. In 2014 there's supposedly "iOS in The Car" coming to MB. Presumably December 2014, at the pace MB develops software. ;)

As of July 06, 2013 (version 1.3) iPhone 5 is not yet supported. I sure hope they have plans to upgrade it in the future!

From the Digital DriveStyle iTunes app description:
"Always On! – The perfect integration for iPhone 4 & 4S into your Mercedes-Benz equipped with Drive Kit Plus (Note: iPhone 5 is currently not supported)."

I think if you use the Lightning to 30-pin connector with the iPhone, it will probably be fine.

That's what happened to my 2012 Prius. Without the adaptor, I can charge the iPhone 5 and I can see the music names and album arts on screen but no audio. With the adaptor, everything is fine.

Issue resolved after trying to use the 30 pin adaptor and also a few iPods the verdict is that apple is only compatible with the USB for charging the iPhone and iPod but by Bluetooth everything works perfect. After all intents then I decide to try a USB stick 8g and presto I have all my music art work cover etc.. works flawless and is better since I don't have to plug in and plug out constantly the iPhone which is a pain.
