CLA size

New to the site and will be new to M-B if I decide to pick up the CLA.

Does anyone know what the CLA's approximate size relative to other cars on the road. In other words, is it the size of a Corolla or more like a Camry?

This quote from Autoblog.com should answer your question:

It's a nicely proportioned thing, too. It's roughly the same size as a C-Class, and the four-door coupe language works quite well here in a smaller package. Mercedes designers have done a fantastic job with this sleek design on the larger CLS, and it's arguably even better-looking here on this little guy. You really need to see the CLA in person to realize just how good it looks.

Fresh from the MB-Canada website:

Dimensions & weights (mm/in)

Wheelbase 2,699/106.5
Overall length 4,630/182.3
Overall height 1,436/56.5
Overall width 2,032/80 (including mirrors)
Turning circle 11.00 (m)
Curb weight/payload (kg)1,480/485
Maximum gross vehicle weight (kg)1,965
Maximum roof load (kg)100
What is the width without the mirrors?
Measure the mirrors on your current vehicle and deduct that from the 80 inches. That'll give you an approximate idea.
Well, I did it a little differently -- measured the proportions of a plan view of the CLA and did the arithmetic, giving a width (without mirrors) of 73" (+/- 0.5"). That's the same as the width of the 2013 Honda Accord, although the Accord is 191.5" in length, compared to the CLA's 182.3".

Wow, can't believe its that much shorter then the Accord.
Lots of dimensions can be found in the back of this brochure, with or without mirrors. Just convert the millimeters to inches. I think the brochure is for Finland.

Well, the 1777mm in the figure equates to right about 70", so I guess my measurements (or the plan view I used) were off. If that 70" is correct, it's about an inch greater than the width of the Honda Civic. Further comparison: the length of the CLA is 182.3", compared to the Civic's 179.4"; the CLA weighs in at about 3250 pounds compared to the Civic's 2850, a big difference. Of course, the CLA is considerably more powerful at 208 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque vs. the Civic's 140 HP and 128 lb-ft.

Another comparison of the CLA, this time to the 3-series BMW sedan, gives the Bimmer 1.3" greater width and virtually identical length and also weight. BMW horsepower varies from 180 for the 320i, to 240 for the 328i, and 300 for the 335i; so depending on which model you get, it's less than, more than, or much more than the CLA250's.
I found the height of the CLA to be somewhat surprising, it being a bit taller than I would've otherwise assumed a sporty compact fastback-styled 4-door "coupe" sedan to be; based on Zilla's comparo above w/ the Accord sedan.
the Honda Civic is just a an inch different in height :)
But wouldn't that be a whole different matter on the inside?
There's no way to have a clear idea as to how much space you may have till you've actually sat inside both vehicles.
Hi cla - friends,
have sat in a cla and must say it is great!
It really is a fantastic car!
am about 177 cm tall and can sit back properly.
If I stretch myself properly I touch with the head roof.
When I normally sit down it sits well.on the front seats, it is fantastic.

Yes, it should be a bit funny! ;)

photograph of the car was not desirable.
I could see but still cla's outdoor (and photograph!)
I'll post just 3 images in the post "night black"
by the way, the illuminated interior is really great.
