Designo colors for the CLA

I am trying to gather information about all Designo colors that Mercedes has for the CLA.
At this moment there are 2 :

- Patagonia Red Metallic BRIGHT
- Polar silver matte

My dealer told me that BRIGHT paints has an extra mother of pearl finish in the paint.
Does somebody has more info on this ?

And this is the statement Mercedes Benz customer service e-mailed me about Patagonia Red.

You have ordered a special color which is only available for the CLA. This color is part of the exclusive Designo portfolio.
Designo is a line from AMG Performance Studio en they give customers the possibilty to individualize their car.
Patagonia Red is specially designed by the Designo specialists for the CLA with all exterior lines in mind. You will not be disapointed !

I was also told that these colors are painted seperatly from the normal line.
But I cannot find any information to back this up.

Is Polar Silver Matte the same as color "761 - Polar Silver" or is Matte a different one?
761 Polar Silver is a standard metallic paint, 991 Designo Polar Silver Magno is a matte finish.

does anybody know what the price of the edition one will be in the USA???
It's been stated that the Polar Silver Magno optional paint finish will be $2k+ (compared to other optional metallic paint finishes which are $720). Makes sense it's designated a Designo offering.

I assume if the Patagonia Red Metallic is also "Designo" then it too will be $2k+...
Thats correct.. Patagonia red is EUR 2118 in The Netherlands.
There are very little reading material on Mercedes's paint technology i found almost nothing when I googled. Most dealer knows very little. Maybe a car painter knows more than a certified dealer. .

Have someone been in contact with Mercedes global with questions regarding paint techs on their various paints?

Those designo paints are stunning!
It is really hard to find good close up pictures of both Designo colors.
I did find these shots, very sharp and crisp.

More shots can be found here :

I found this vid on youtube, is it patagonia? Looks nice!

Yeah.. Thats Patagonia Red. Thanks for the video and even in my own language :big smile:
Has any of our European friends ever seen the Patagonia Red color in person?

I'm still on the fence as to which color to get and am anxious to see it in person. I mean, it has got to be dynamite looking, right? Mercedes charges a full $1000 more for it, compared to the other metallic colors. I've only seen photos of it and it looks different in every photo.
Not Patagonia Red, but Designo Mountain Grey on an A-class.

To be honest, I wasn't blown away, but that's just a humble opinion.
Designo grey for A class is a matte color finish.
Patagonia Red is a Designo Bright metalic with mother of pearl finish.
This color is shiny like the other metalic paints, not matte.
I haven't seen Patagonia Red in person my self but in all the pictures I've seen its looked absolutely gorgeous. Only thing keeping me away from it astronomical price for paint. The AMG is expensive enough as it is.

You have to wait untill early oktober to see one in the wild (although there are several demo cars around).
I should be one of the first 17 here in Europe.

Afcourse pictures will follow when I get mine.
My dealer told me today that all Designo colors will be delayed until januari 2014.
So it take even longer to see these special colors in the wild.
Tell me I am stupid. I have great difficulty seeing the attraction of Designo colors.

They constantly reminded me of a paint job out of a spray can...
I think you mean the Magno (matte) colors. Patagonia Red is a designo color and it is metallic...or do you also think the metallic red looks like it was shot with a rattle can, too?

Hahaha. Sorry, the matte finish I meant. All these marketing terms are confusing the old guy :(
