Heater Core Hose Clip - Missing and How to Order a Replacement

I did an engine replacement on my CLA 250 and during reinstallation I realized I had lost one of the clips to the two heater core hoses that connect from the Engine to the Firewall.
Here is a picture of one intact in it's quick connect. The other is missing within a 10 foot radius, next to a 10 mm socket that also will never be found.

It turns out that the clip can't be ordered separately on a CLA 250. Only as part of a replacement $58 hose assembly. There are clips available online, but with no size identification. Solution in next post!

You can order Catch Spring 272-993-00-02 that is for a water pump hose on many MB models, but not the CLA.
This little spring is anywhere from $1 to $6 and is the correct spring for the quick connects on either the input or output heater to firewall hoses.

Engine replacement DIY!!!??
wow… you must know your car mechanicals well.

isn’t this section car maintenance , care and detailing ? Engine replacement is hardly regular maintenance 😁

I have done a few engines and transmissions.... but this was definitely Next Level. There are about 40 electrical connections on the engine and accessories. Plus the entire front end of the car has to come off. I'll post my experience on it as well as replacement engine options at a later time.

if i ever yank the front and motor out … you bet i will blue print the darn thing get all the forged replacements and open up the turbo
