Well your the first person that has commented that they’ve seen this or had it happen to them… I’m glad it’s a software fix and not taking the dash apart!!!
Annie soundtrack for my daughter… you believe that right? [emoji85][emoji23][emoji1317]
Can you confirm if it’s an ECU flash or MBUX software update? Presume it’s all controlled by ECU as you say, but want to point my dealer in the right direction [emoji1303]
I mean the introduction of soft materials in the dashboard construction and other areas has really helped in recent years. The last car I had with any remote sort rattles was my EP3 Civic Type R, but that was a 2004 car and we’ve come a long way!
It only takes a plastic clip to be slightly loose and then resonate at a certain engine frequency or something [emoji53]
As they cut costs and reintroduce more scratchy plastics (Audi are guilty here too in the new A3) then rattles become more likely again.
Mines in on Tuesday for ambient lighting fault, squeaky steering wheel & rattle behind dashboard.
Fingers crossed all goes well… I’m still fighting with the supplying dealer regarding a retrofit of AR Sat Nav.
They claim as it was built on August it wasn’t “missing” the now discontinued feature. I’m arguing it was in the spec when ordered so should be there!?
See how we go but suspect I’m on a losing footing with it!
Yes car has all available updates and as I say, they told me an ECU flash “wasn’t even possible” but I’m not buying that.
I don’t want the interior stripped so if that’s the ultimate fix I will reluctantly give the car back to Mercedes permanently.
The only issue I have is that Audi are putting all prices up from 1st Dec so I may have to pay a deposit and order an RS3 Vorsprung just in case to avoid that. Audi have said they’ll happily refund me if I want to cancel and will put that in writing.
What a mess! [emoji30]
What dealership in the UK did you deal with? Maybe they can pass some info on if they recall what they did!!
Interesting that having had a chat with RJ Automotive here in the UK they are telling me that most Merc dealerships get them to do the AR Nav retrofit.
He says the dealerships have no idea what they’re doing!! [emoji85]
Part and parcel of owning a car... no matter how tight the car is made, eventually those cabin rattles from the dash and trimmings, will start to show.
I agree with this statement in part but my last two cars owned from new had zero rattles throughout their entire time of ownership so this is not some Utopia we’re aspiring for.
2014 Audi A3 TDI owned from new 56000 miles and no rattles
2017 Audi S3 owned from new 54000 miles and no rattles.
That Audi is no more or less budget than the CLA… and in fact my Ford Ficus before that had no perceptible rattles either and that was a budget company car.
I must clarify that I am referring to perceptible rattles that are audible under normal driving conditions.
As with anything there are always bigger things in life to worry about than these “problems” but I can understand the frustration felt.
