Fully loaded they need to be right at the $50k mark... If you are talking base price I honestly think $35k needs to be the starting point.

AMG, hard to say at this point.
Agreed, if they really want to make a splash, they should launch it at 30k, but that probably won't happen.

A lot of car for that price. That would be pretty awesome and I think you may be right on target
Now that my Canadian dollar is on par with the US dollar, I'm hoping we don't get screwed on the price and it's not 5K more.

at the rate we are going the Canadian dollar will be worth more :) I kid I kid.....sorta :)
It was for awhile, but not by much. Most companies have placed the same products that are available in both Canada and the US at the same price, but there are a few who still charge us more, books being one the biggest ripoffs.

Autoblog is estimating the base price will fall near $30,000

"And with pricing expected to fall around $30,000, that might not be too far-fetched of a thought."
2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class is dressed to impress
I saw that but I wonder how much of that is just speculation and how much is based on them doing some research or hearing something from an MB employee.

If they are right, I'll be super stoked. I just hope we aren't looking at a car that is $40k + as far as base price.

The BMW 1 Series coupe is $36k here in Canada. If Mercedes is looking to compete with it they need to do one of three things:

1) Have the msrp lower the $36k
2) Have the same msrp, but with more standard features
3) Have a higher msrp, but with A LOT more standard features. Acura is well known for this. When I was looking for a car, the Acura TSX was similarly priced, but it included everything as standard.

Also, the B-class starts at $29,900 and the C-class starts at $37,300. I suspect the CLA will be slotted somewhere in between these two cars, probably $33,900 or $34,900. $33,900 is right in the middle, so I'll guess $33,900 here in Canada. However, I don't think they can go too high in price for the top end of the CLA line. The C350 4matic is $47,700, which is $10,000 more than the base. If you follow that same logic for the CLA, the CLA350 would be $43,900.

In Germany the CLA 200 (122BHP) is starting at 29500 Euro. But this is with a lot of tax on it. I bet you guys in the US are normally better off pricewise!
CLA 220 CDI: 38500 Euro
CLA 250: 39500 Euro

I would estimate the CLA 45 AMG in Europe to start at 50k Euro.

Is Mercedes planning a CLA 350 in the States? I have not heard of anything like that for Europe.

Mercedes CLA to price start at $30,000 and cap out at $35,000
see link below from AutoGuide.com
Quote:
“They could eat into the mass market,” IHS Automotive analyst Rebecca Lindland said to Automotive News. “A $30,000 Mercedes — and they will cap the car at $35,000 — is an incredibly competitive price point, even against the higher-end Honda Accord.”
