I prefer Mobil 1, but mainly because OEM's use it more. I don't think Royal Purple or Amsoil are worse, maybe slightly better but I don't think the cost is justified, IMHO.

I prefer Amsoil and some people swear by Mobil 1 while others prefer Royal Purple. Penzoil Ultra seems to get a lot of mentions as well. I'm curious what everyone uses and recommends?

I sent you a PM.....I know you guys say that Amsoil is a good product but expensive. Just so you know there is a way to get it a wholesale for cheap. I am a dealer and can help you get those deals. Let me know if you would be interested. Thanks
In Europe, the factory fill for the AMG & Brabus models was Aral! It was a surprise to me, but then I researched further to learn that it was an exceptional high-weight synthetic motor oil.Does anyone know what Mercedes Service Dept uses for their synthetic oil?
Audi (and VW likely too) USDM offerings are VERY particular to the spec of motor oil, and the warranty (along w/ engine well being) are contingent on that Euro spec motor oil as you alluded to. There has been carbon/sludge issues on the DI engines, more common than acceptable (to many)...For instance, I know Audi uses Castrol SynTech, but not the made-in-the-USA stuff. They use a Castrol version that is made in Germany.
Yea, I know what you mean. For my Audi, I won't buy the oil unless the back of the container says VW 502, 505 compliance. I'm looking at the back of Mobile 1 0w-40 right now, and it also lists MB-Approval 229.3 & 229.5.
