I'm not sure if this has been posted but it looks like there are actually some nice wheel options available for the CLA from Mercedes! This is what's on the MB Germany website: MB Accessories -- Light Alloy Wheels

They look decent for 18s. I have no idea whether they'll be available on the CLA45 but the allegedly "stock" 18" AMG twin 5 spokes don't do it for me. I wish the standard design was closer to the twin 5 spoke version used on the C63 -- they're similar but different enough that they look dated and small on the CLA. These seem to fit the wheel openings better...at least in this picture. There are some other nice options on the MB Germany site (link provided above), too.

Who all is getting the standard (17") wheels in the US? Do you like the choice MB made or no?

I'm getting the 18". I just hate that they only come with summer tires.
I agree. Does anyone know the exact wheel specifications so that all of us that have to buy tires for the winter can begin shopping now? Anyone already have tires picked out for the winter?

Go to Tire Rack and do a search for info on Bridgestone Blizzaks or Dunlop Wintersports. Both are great snow tires. I've had Wintersport M3s on my Volvo for winters over the past 8 yrs. They are phenomenal.

Thanks for the recommendation. Frustrating that MB just can't give us all-season tires.

Do you know if the 17" are all season?, does anyone knows who the tire manfufacturer is?, I have a BMW 535 with Goodyear eagle LS2, those tires are just plain garbage, the moment you hit hard a pothole, chances are that you gain a buble on the side.....I hope MB has been smarter and selected better quality tires

At the risk of making a silly question, I'd like to know if someone knows if mounting a 225/45 on an 18" rim would be an issue?, would the total diameter of the tire plus rim be too big perhaps for the car design?

I ask this because I'd like to have good looks coupled with comfortable ride (more cushon)

There are many tire diameter calculators on the web

The width / wall height ratio for a given tire diameter determine the overall diameter of a tire

If you change this overall diameter too much it impacts the accuracy of the speedometer and odometer readings

Thanks, just looking at the width of the

tire, I come up with difference of 10 mm (1 cm) betwen the 18" 225/40 vs 18" 225/45, do you think that would be an issue?

It doesn't work that way 40 & 45 refer to % wall height relative to tire width

Your proposal results in a speedo error of about 3.5 %
Old New
Diameter 637.2mm 659.7mm
Circumference 2001.8mm 2072.5mm
Poke 38.2mm 81.6mm
Inset 114.2mm 121.6mm
Speedo error 0% -3.41%
Reading at 30mph 30mph 28.98mph
Reading at 60mph 60mph 57.95mph
Ride height gain 0mm 11.25mm
Arch gap loss 0mm 11.25mm

Users manual requires winter tire of the following size for CLA250:
205/50R17 93H XL M+S MOExtended

Hope this answers your question.

that difference is sizable. Probably there is also implications to suspension and handling in the curves, ......I am just concerned that if I buy this car with such low profile tires, I wil have to be driving always trying to avoid poholes, I have already spent a lot of money with my BMW FRT that are extremely delicate (Goodyear Eagle LS2 245/45) , veeryone is having huge issues with this tire, to the point tha there is no inventory to order from in US....Am I the only one concerned witht his topic?, I don't see anyone discussing this
