1 is the Patagonia red also a matte finish like the Magno silver?

2 I hear a lot about how the matte paint is very hard to maintain. Well would it be possible to get it wrapped in clear vinyl to protect the paint from bird droppings and other light junk that matte paint supposedly can't handle. Of course this is all assuming that the clear vynl wrap wouldn't mitigate or lessen the effect of the matte paint after applied.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

1. No, Patagonia is a metallic paint. The Order Guide includes an asterisk next to its name that denotes "Metallic Paint - Additional Charge."

2. If you're going to apply a wrap to your entire car why not go with Cirrus White (no charge) and get a matte wrap of your color choice applied to the car? The matte paint is expensive to begin with. Unless you apply a matte clear covering you're going to add a shine to a matte finish. It's going to look odd and will probably cause more problems than it will solve.

Just my $.02,

+1 with Sue. Matte colors are harder to maintain because no one knows how to do it. The matte paint thing has not been out long enough to have the techniques be widespread, tried and true. All the matte colors to now have been covered with shiny paint (read: primer).

I say that if you want to have "other" matte colors, you should wrap the whole car with the color of your choice as this is what you would end up doing if you were to WRAP the car with protectant anyway.

Also. Can anyone confirm whether or not the gear shifter will come with the amg logo stamped on the knob? From what I was able to find only the edition 1 knobs get the logo and the regular amgs will not get it.

By the way, with respect to the matte paint finishes, Mercedes Benz says the following:

Mercedes Benz CLA Owner's Manual said:
- Never polish the vehicle or the light alloy wheels. Polishing makes the paintwork shiny.
- The following may cause the paint to become shiny and thus reduce the matt effect:
Vigorous rubbing with unsuitable materials.
Frequent use of car washes.
Washing the vehicle in direct sunlight.
- Never use paint cleaner, buffing or polishing products, or gloss preserver, e.g. wax. These products are only suitable for high-gloss surfaces. Their use on vehicles with matt finish leads to considerable surface damage (shiny, spotted areas).
- Always have paintwork repairs carried out at a qualified specialist workshop.
- Do not use wash programs with a hot wax treatment under any circumstances.

I noticed that when browsing through the Dealer Ordering Guide the shift knob varies based on the interior trim. For instance, page 26 shows the shift knob without the AMG stamp but page 32 (showing AMG performance seats) shows the stamp visible.

I strongly recommend that you NOT inspect the current version of the Order Guide with such a fine eye for errors, inconsistencies and discrepancies. It will drive you crazy. This is the crazed voice of experience speaking.

Kanusingh,

No.... the AMG log is not on the shifter knob, or the seats, or anyplace in the interior. We have 5 and other then the floor shifter the interior is the same as the none AMG models.....to my surprise!
