See that this is your first Forn post. Welcome :)
Agree!
a) Year built?
b) Both sides?
c) Since we don't believe them, are you able to ask exactly what the tolerances are?
d) Are you able to check some other CLA's at the dealer?

1. 2021
2. Both sides
3. I was told someone from AMG Germany checked the measurements taken by the dealership.
4. Yeah I've checked at least 4 other CLA's all have the same issue.
Mercedes say the body kit is cut by robots, but I had a Mk 1 VW Golf GTi which had better fitting side skirts. It's poor quality control.

This was the response I received,

"I have now had confirmation that our Technical Specialists have investigated this matter and come to a conclusion.
They have determined that this is not a design fault and the vehicle is designed this way.
I hope this clarifies the situation for you.
If you have any questions please let me know.

Yours sincerely

Here is what I would like you to do.
Find a certified MB Collision Body Repair Shop and ask for a written estimate to fix it.
Then come back here.

Looking at the pictures, it looks more like a part which did quite not meet design fitment specs, meaning the part clipped into place securely, but there are visible gaps. Hence poor fit and finish. Just like you would see brand new cars with the hood and fender gap not being uniform between the left side and right side of the hood. There is nothing to really adjust, just poor fit and finish. Not sure what you can wiggle out of the Mercedes folks here.

Jase, I thought the same because my '14 has a gap as well.
But, psfarquhar's gap actually wraps around, giving the impression that it is missing a fastener or something. So, if he follows the suggestion exactly in Comment #5, the Certified shop will tell him it is already fixed, and then he will know for sure.

That makes sense. Forgot to mention I had already spoken to an approved Mercedes bodyshop, they offered to use "filler" to cover the gap. I can only guess it was some kind of flexible filler. I politely declined. I will just live with this issue as the car is a joy to drive. I will remember to check before getting another Mercedes!
