I was looking at the CLA order guide and thinking about the wheel options listed for the base car...

I know the order guide isn't complete with respect to the different wheel options and that this version of the order guide isn't for the CLA45 but it did get me thinking again about the standard wheel on the AMG model.

I'm really not much of a fan of the 794 (bottom center); which is the upgraded wheel that comes with the AMG Sport Package. It reminds me of an '80s era Ronal style rim. It also looks small against the CLA's proportions (see pic below). And, while the R31 (top right) wouldn't necessarily be my first choice if I saw them as a standalone item, they do look bigger (despite both being 18s) and more current than the 794s.

I guess it's possible that the standard rim on the CLA might be the 18" multispoke (as opposed to the 19" version on the Edition One). Whatever the case, I'm hoping the base wheel isn't the 794 since that would force...okay, maybe force is too strong of a word...but it would certainly be reason to think seriously about a wheel upgrade. Maybe I'll like them better in person. Is it the Fall yet?

19s, 18s...anything but those. I was debating picking up a set of super concaves for my C4S this summer. Maybe I'll wait and buy them for the CLA...assuming I can find a set that'll fit! lol

As far as stock wheels go, the standard CLA45 wheels are great. I don't think I'd change them, and wheels are usually one of the first things I upgrade.

As with anything I will ultimately wait and reserve judgment until I've seen them in person. All of my cars currently have OE wheels so I'm usually fine with whatever is offered or stock. The 5 spoke design just looks small and dated in those pictures. Maybe I'm just having a bad day. It's been known to happen.

None of them are 19s. The 19s on the CLA they are parading around at shows, however, look like the Multispoke 18s. Based on some of the reviews I've read on rides in the CLA45 with the 18s I am a little concerned with the potential ride harshness of the 19s.

Oooh, I actually like the stock 5 twin spokes they show on the A45 much better!
