I've always been a fan of NA V8s and V6s unless it's a Diesel. So that being said I am really kind of clueless about turbos on Gas engines. I was listening to a WRX make a funny sound the other day and my buddy said it was a turbo dump and that it helps the car build boost and makes it faster.

SO my questions for discussion here are. How do Turbo Dumps or Boost Dumps (I've heard both I don't know which is correct) work? Do they actually make more power? Would it be advantageous to install one an a CLA45? Is it even something that could be put on a CLA45?

A blow'off valve (BOV) is what I believe you're referring to w/ regards to "turbo dump." It can improve throttle-response. There's also wastegate which can regulate pressure on the exhaust side (BOV on the intake side), a benefit being if adjustable you can turn up the boost & can get more power.
