Does anyone know if there is any data concerning the added weight of the panoramic roof option? I am opting not to get it, but I was just curious. I know that the vista roof on a newer Mustang adds about 75lbs to the top of the car. That much weight up top has to effect handling dynamics a bit. Again, I'm not getting it anyway, I was just curious.

hmmm.....save $1450 (or whatever the price) and 150-200 lbs on an already expensive and relatively heavy C45, or, have a see-through roof. For me, it's a no-brainer. Without that weight, 1/4 miles runs in the high 12s just may be possible.

I will just lease it and let the dealer take the hit when I give it back to them after 3 years.

The only benefit of the Pano roof to a car enthusiast for me anyway is just being able to hear the car way better, more headroom for a helmet, and overall its a nice feature for hot summer days and for just taking a cruse to the mountains or something like that. Trying to think positive here lol.

I do autocross as often as I can. About 5-6 events a summer... And I do plan to take the CLA out.

EDIT: not for competition. Mainly for recreation and fun.
Right...kind of my point. Keep the sunroof. :)

When you approach the CLA45's limits and want to go faster buy an old Miata and supercharge it or pick up some other lightweight car that didn't start out its life as an overweight sedan with extra seats. :)

P.S. I look forward to taking the 45 out to an autocross. It will give me a reason to get back out there again. I've taken my Volvo in the past and have had an absolute blast!

google "c class pano roof weight"

150~200pounds seems to be the agreement among c class owners
That number cannot be correct.
My M3 with a deleted sunroof and replacement of the entire steel roof with a factory carbon fiber roof only reduced overall weight by 40 lb. So even with the panoramic roof wich is may be 10" larger than a standard moonroof, the weight difference cannot be more than 50-60 lb. Remember the glass is replacing a piece of steel so the difference is only the motor, tract and shade which is cloth material. For the M3, the 40 lb allegedly lower the center of gravity by a noticeable margin but I confess I will never know the difference.

My dealer will not order a CLA45 without panoramic roof.
In California, you can't sell a MB without sunroof or pano roof, especially in a vehicle as clautrophobic as the CLA.
They make a much larger panoramic roof ( the entire length of the roof ) standard on the C-Coupe for the same reason.
The dealer doesn't want to be stuck with a car without the panoramic roof if you decide not to take the car.

yeah i think many of the CLA's on the lot here in CA will probably have the pano roof.
