This happened an hour ago after I washed my car.. I asked my younger brother to put the wiper down. He held it on the blade and somehow it took off from the arm and the arm just smashed the windshield hard. I just dont understand why the blade was easily removed! I know I cant blame my brother for this incident but I am just mad.

I have never had any cracked windshield and my car is still fresh 6 months old! Do you think this can be repaired? Or do I have to change the whole windshield?

It's just irritating that this happened because of a simple job; putting a wiper down. sigh.

Damn, I'm sorry this happened. I wouldn't like to be in your brother shoes , he must feel horrible.
I would have never expected the windshield to crack like that... Would you have to pay out of pocket for that?
Anybody know how much it would cost?

Too many instances of cracked windshields reported. Sometimes without any obvious impact from flying objects.
I wonder if Mercedes Benz is adhering to US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Regulations for these CLA windshields?

I notice the glass is very susceptible to scratching much easier then on other cars. I was wiping the fog away the other day with a micro towel and it left some small scratches on the window. Mind you I was using a brand new microfiber

Just had one priced at MB dealer. Either $500 or $800 for the glass, depending on whether you have lane recognition option.

Correct. That's why I have $100 deductible for Comprehensive, doesn't change your premium much at all. Definitely go to MB to get it replaced, instead of Safelite.
Over the last 40 years I've had three different insurance companies. Each of them offered a zero deductible window glass package. As Jedi45 said, it is pennies per day to have this coverage. I've never had any out of pocket charge to replace a windshield, which has happened 4 or 5 times over those years.

As per the OP stated location of Brunei Darussalam, we cannot fathom the insurance policies there. But in the US, most if not all, large insurance companies offer a zero deductible glass coverage to refer to. That said, based on the nature of this crack, no amount of filler would be enough to remedy this crack. 100% necessitates a replacement windshield. Even if you get some fool saying he can repair it, DO NOT take the chance. The integrity of the glass has already weakened. Your just playing a game of "chicken" waiting for the next bump to shatter it completely.

Edit: Shatter is not the correct term, as windshields are layered with a thin membrane to prevent shattering, but regardless, the next bump will make it worse.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I went to my MB dealer and they are now ordering a new set of windshield for me. It was not part of my comprehensive insurance policy so I have to pay out of pocket. The windshield itself costs $425 after 15% discount. Total damage to wallet is $900 that is including labour charges and glazing kit. Bad news is I have to wait 2-3 weeks for the windshield to arrive here.

Just got back from the US few days ago and I cant enjoy my car already. Oh well.

Hi today I just noticed a very small crack on my windshield it is so small i cannot even tell , I have tinted (factory) windows so my friend think maybe the crack is only on the tinted film? I have no idea.
I cannot recall any impact from flying objetcs I barely drive my car....
should I just call the insurance and get the lil chip (again almost unnoticeable) or just wait to see what happens and if it gets worse then replace the whole glass? sorry if my questions sound dumb , I dont know much about cars

Call your insurance company, most will fix it for free. The alternative is wait for the chip to turn into a crack then replace your windshield, which would cost more. Probably the amount of your comprehensive deductible.
