Would you have bought this car?

As most of you are probably aware, the CLA traces its roots to the A-Class (basically, you have an A-Class with a trunk).
I'm curious, how many of you would have bought this, had it come to the US, instead of the CLA?

Not a chance. Can't stand hatchbacks. Same thing goes for most "crossovers" on the market today.

No, thank you. Looks like a grocery getter.

I would think that comparing the A, to the CLA is fair. From what I can tell, the doors, and everything forward of the B-pillars is pretty much the same, with some engine choices being the main differences. As far as the rear of the car goes, Mercedes-Benz pretty much just changed the rear roof line (okay, so this is pretty big), and grafted a trunk on the back. The A probably gets a slight nod in the practicality department, with the CLA winning for style. I would say choosing between the A, and CLA, is like choosing between a Focus 5-door, and sedan.

The CLA is actually based on the A Class, with the same underpinnings, just a different body on top. Even has the same interior.

The current A Class was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, with the CLA making its debut at the January 2013 North American International Auto Show. The CLA was specifically designed for the US market, due to the aversion to hatchbacks in that market.

I have an A45 and really wish I could have the CLA bonnet, but, looking into this we worked out that there is no panel that could be interchanged, not even the option of a complete front quarter swap.

The other difference, the reviewers generally liked the performance of the A45, not so much of CLA45.

Don't know if it was just the North American reviewers not used to driving a high power 4 banger front wheel drive based car.

I agree, I have seen several A class in Mexico city, Tijuana and Guadalajara. I personally don't like the A class, I associate it with the 1999 A class sold in Mexico (it had some charm and it was the car to have in every soap opera I can recall during my stay over there). The CLA in my view is much better, the shape does seem to end in a nice tail and looks like a Mercedes, in fact I feel many new Mercedes models take their design from the CLA and the new s class. Here is a picture of the original A class I remember.

No way,.... plus the CLA has that super sexy rear end! A GLA45 ....maybe, it's better looking, but I lIke the Maccan styling better

At one time, I came close to buying an R32 (VW) but decided it was too boxy....

so hot. Love the GLA. I'm very tempted to make this my 2nd car maybe in another couple of years.
