I am looking to enable Carplay on my car, but have found lots of conflicting information. I know that my car has 522: AUDIO 20 RADIO NAVIGATION CAPABLE NTG5. I have confirmed this with a VIN decoder. I also have the USB module with 2 USB ports, one with the cable icon and one with the phone/tablet icon. My car was built in Oct 2015. But according to someone in this thread, it say that I am SOL.

I continued digging and found in this article that is is possible if I have COMAND NTG5.1 Audio System / Audio20 head unit and I just need to use a OBD2 activator. This however requires NTG5.1. How do I know which revision of NTG my car has? The decoder only says NTG5, but not NTG5.0, NTG5.1, etc.

Bottom line, would I be able to get Carplay by getting an update from MB and then using a OBD2 activator?

So I didn't go through Mercedes, I bought a little OBD activation tool from ebay, I think at the time I paid $50 the are cheaper now, followed thier instructions and I had AppleCar play. Usually you can send those companies your VIN and they will tell you if you can use their coder or not. From your description Im 99% sure you can.
