Does mBrace work in Canada? I just bought my CLA last week. How do I get MB apps working? I hear about sendtobenz directions but have no idea how to do that. Thanks all.

Also can the cigarette insert be removed and replaced? I'm not a smoker.

Mercedes Benz Apps can be activated using any phone at this point; I just activated mine over the weekend. All you have to do is have internet connectivity on your phone, bluetooth capability and a specific software or App installed on your phone, BlueDUN. The BlueDUN App connects your phone's data to the vehicle's system allowing MB Apps functionality. After the system is connected, you must sign in and accept the terms and conditions of the service (disclaimers) for each service, then the systems starts working and voila! a bunch of new options to play with. For your information, I use an android phone, Samsung SIII to be precise; it should work with other phones as well.

Notes:
- You may have to change the settings on the phone in order to allow BlueDUN to work properly.
- The system uses data constantly so be sure to have a good data plan with your phone service provider.
- As the phone is active all the time, it may drain your battery very fast. I suggest to connect your phone to a car charger while using the system.

Enjoy!

I'm in Canada and it works fine for me. You need to turn on your "personal hotspot" and allow bluetooth tethering on your iPhone. All the MB Apps work except for internet radio. However, this is somewhat pointless because you need to be stopped for most of the functionality (unless you have a video in motion cable) and the apps are very slow. If you're stopped anyway, it's much quicker to just find what you need directly on your phone.

I don't have a video in motion cable yet, but plan on getting one. Some other forum members have it installed, just do a search. To connect your iPhone to the car:

On iPhone:
Settings --> Cellular --> Personal Hotspot --> turn on Personal Hotspot

In the car:
I'm not in my car now, so I don't remember the exact screens, but when you select the world logo on the top right, you should be able to bring up a screen to connect a device.

Album art should work on USB and SD card as long as you have the art embedded in your audio files.

To get text messages to show up...

On you phone:
Settings --> Bluetooth, then press the "i" next to MB Bluetooth, and enable "show notifications"

Only new text messages will show up, it will not sync your old messages.

The messages you're seeing via the steering wheel controls are for system messages like burnt out bulbs, etc.

To read text messages, press "tel" on the Comand unit (radio), and you'll see where to access messages. You won't be able to read them while the car is in motion, but you can use voice command to tell it to read out loud.
