You'll see as you rev higher and the air is passing the intercooler, you will get better cooling. If you are cruising at low revs you can see the IATs creep, get on it and they will drop during the run, which is opposite of the stock unit. As the stock unit tries to suck all of the heat out of the charge it heat soaks and the IATs will increase throughout your boosted fun, making it no fun :) Our FMIC keeps them consistent allowing the ECU to stick to the max power timing and fuel tables.
Yeah ... contrary to other elements the oem fmic is a tad under engineered ... cost and space maybe.
Tech question on fmic design : tall and thin radiator vs short and thick (but equivalent volume) ... is there a practical cooling ability difference?

Confirmed. Did some spirited driving on the freeway with 54 ambient and 55-60 IATs. Did quick sprints, turbo @ 16psi and IAT went down 53!

Every dealer is different, in reality, it keeps the air cooler, meaning the power is free and if anything less stressful to the motor. We have had a few Warranty fixes done on our CLA 250 with the FMIC on there and my service writer didn't bat an eye. He mentioned how all the techs were looking at it and saying how huge and good it looked. But you may have a dealer that doesn't touch anything aftermarket and they would deny warranty work. Its more about your relationship with your service writer than anything.

Too bad, Dealer in Oman can only service and look out for mods to void the warranty

We had the electronic power steering control unit fail. Would cause the car to lose power steering. It was intermittent. I explained to my service rep that I hadn't brought it in yet because 1) I wanted to be able to recreate the issue, which I was able to in their parking lot and 2) I was worried about the mods on the car. Not only did they cover the power steering unit, which I am sure was a few $1000, but swapped the front brake rotors and gave me a free oil change, all under warranty. They are also a huge AMG dealer in the area, so they understand performance.

Ohhh free of charge service, that is very understanding service rep

After countless hours of design and months of testing our CLA 250 Front Mount Intercooler Upgrade Kit is ready for the masses! We're talking 20 HP and 23 Ft Lbs of torque at the wheels over the heat soaked stock unit, we're talking 50% decrease in air intake temps (AITs) resulting in not only more, but safer power for the motor. The turbo loves it, the ECU loves it and you will definitely love this new found power! As a matter of fact, the ECU loves the cooler charge so much, that is allows gains of 50 Wheel HP, yes that's 5 - 0 Wheel HP in the higher RPMs! (If the DYNO hadn't proved it, we wouldn't have believed it ourselves).

Our Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 Front Mount Intercooler Kit (FMIC) starts with a huge 24.0"x11.78"x3.0" bar and plate core. The leak tested core utilizes the same fin height for both internal and external rows with the external fins being louvered and offset from the internal fins. While this design has better heat transfer capabilities, pressure drop can increase. Normally, we would use plain style fins for the internal passages, especially on such a long core (24" long), however, we were able to help with the pressure drop by increasing the fin height from 0.25" to 0.375", resulting in outstanding cooling characteristics while maintaining minimal pressure drop. To further disperse the turbo air charge evenly across the entire core, we cast an internal splitter in the end tanks which also increases velocity. What is the result? A 50% reduction in air intake temps, gains reaching to 25HP and 25TQ above a heat soaked stock unit, and optimized engine efficiency through a colder, denser air inlet charge which the stock ECU will account for. Real gains of 50+ HP above 4500 RPM! All from an intercooler upgrade that is unmatched in performance and value!

Ok I want it, but what about installation? I don't want to tear my car apart!
- Don't worry, once the bumper is removed (very easy), the intercooler can be installed in roughly an hour. Actually, the DYNO testing and installation of our FMIC was done without unstrapping the car from the DYNO! Not only did we do this to prove the ease of installation, but also to guarantee the most accurate DYNO results. It also shows how easy it it to return to stock if you ever needed.

i want to upgrade my intercooler cla 250 2020 ( c118 ) dose anyone know a company made it

@turbokits
Thanks for posting the manual!
Why on earth is the oem turbo baffle needed? The stock fmic cant handle the incoming flow? Or ...?
You folks opted for a thin and tall radiator so its partially blocked by the bumper ... a thick and short one is no good? Would some nice 2" venturi stack trumpets right through the bumper and crash bar cool the new radiator better? (that would get rid of those pesky front plate holes ? and look like 007 missile ports to boot)
Hey bro just bought the turbokits intercooler and can’t for the life of me get it installed the crash bar won’t go on without putting way too much pressure on the radiator I’m just about ready to beat the car up any help would be appreciated bro
